Narratives: Micqaela Jones + Chef Pablo Peñalosa

  • Bishop's Lodge 1297 Bishops Lodge Road Santa Fe, NM, 87506 United States (map)

An enrolled member of the Temoak Tribe of Western Shoshone, painter Micqaela Jones grew up on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation of the Shoshone and Paiute Nations located 100 miles northeast of Elko, Nevada on the Idaho border.

Micqaela’s days were spent enjoying nature and filled with rich visual experiences so it isn’t by surprise that she became a visual artist and began focusing her art career in 2002 on a life of art ahead.

Jones’ work focuses on new techniques evolving into an intertwining of her Shoshone culture along with contemporary expressions, resulting in colorful vivid paintings. Observing the vividness, Chef Pablo Peñalosa invites Jones to share in a culinary evening filled with creative expression, traditional rooted themes and a vivid taste of color.

Chef Pablo Peñalosa has more than a dozen years of culinary and Michelin star restaurant experience and shares a global perspective that ties in techniques and flavors discovered during his time living in Mexico and Spain, while nurturing the connection between the land, ingredients, makers and farmers to the hotel guests and community in a purposeful way.

Micqaela Jones has been featured as the official Santa Fe Indian Market artist, commissioned muralist, and has participated in several fine art shows across the country. This collaboration with Chef Pablo brings a new adventure for Jones in sharing traditions to showcase a narrative in her paintings through Peñalosa’s culinary perspective.

Enticing this perspective, Bobby Beals presents in Santa Fe at Bishop’s Lodge, Narratives featuring Micqaela Jones + Pablo Peñalosa, on August 19, 2023. At 6:30pm, seating begins for dinner.
