Jessamine Narita (She/Her)

Jessamine Narita is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist whose expressive abstract paintings explore themes of identity, transformation, and emotional resonance through an intuitive and deeply personal visual language. Rooted in a process-driven approach, Narita creates work that invites viewers to engage with feeling rather than interpretation alone — emphasizing atmosphere, movement, and sensory experience over fixed narrative.

Working primarily in painting and mixed media, Narita approaches the canvas as a space for exploration and discovery. Guided by color, texture, and mood, her compositions evolve organically, allowing each layer to respond to the emotional energy of the work as it unfolds. Bold color palettes and dynamic gestures characterize her practice, creating a visual balance between elegance and chaos — an interplay that reflects both vulnerability and strength.

Inspired by nature, music, and expansive landscapes — particularly the high desert environment that shaped her artistic voice — Narita’s work draws upon both personal experience and broader cultural influences. Her paintings are designed to be felt as much as seen, encouraging viewers to slow down, connect intuitively, and bring their own emotional interpretations into dialogue with the work.

A graduate of the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting (2002), Narita has lived and worked in creative hubs including Chicago, Tokyo, Santa Fe, Austin, and San Antonio. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions nationwide and is held in private collections internationally. Influenced by artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, and Helen Frankenthaler, she blends historical inspiration with a distinctly contemporary perspective, continually pushing the boundaries of expressive abstraction.

As her practice continues to evolve, Jessamine Narita remains committed to creating art that bridges emotion and experience — work that resonates beyond language and invites viewers into a shared space of feeling, reflection, and transformation.
