Kate Lindsey (She/Her)

Kate is a multidisciplinary artist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her artistic journey began at the age of four when she declared herself an artist, and was featured in her first juried exhibit that same year. Known for her vibrant abstract landscapes, fine art photography, and non-representational abstract paintings, Kate draws inspiration from the light, colors, and beauty that surround her in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her work is not only recognized in private collections worldwide but also holds a place in the permanent collections of prestigious institutions such as the William J. Clinton Foundation and the Arts and Science Center of Southeast Arkansas.

When Kate first experienced the magical light of Santa Fe in 2007, it immediately felt like she belonged there. After a long and winding course over the next eight years, in 2015, she managed to move into her first live/work studio in Santa Fe, and knew she was finally home. Since then, she has bought a home on the outskirts of town and relishes the quiet beauty of the mountains, sunsets, and sunrises, while still being close enough to enjoy the vibrant art community of Santa Fe. She has enjoyed being included in several invitational exhibits, as well as a solo exhibit in 2024, with more on the horizon soon.

Kate continues to be inspired daily by Northern New Mexico. The colors, the light, the clouds, the animals, and the spirit of the high desert are sinking into her bones, bringing a deep healing process. She is inspired to expand her artwork in new directions, both with her photography, her painting, and the exciting places where the two overlap.

Artist Statement:

“I do my artwork because I have to. It’s as much a part of me as breathing. It’s what feeds my soul. It’s my source of joy.”

For me, my artwork is more about sensing than understanding intellectually. I try to open my head and bring others into my world, spilling myself onto paper and canvas with layers of colors, images, and memories. Through my eyes and hands, I’m expressing my personal connection with the world around me.

There has always been something inside me calling me to express myself visually. Without it I’m lost, but with it — it’s a beautiful journey, guiding me to wonderful new places.

My ultimate hope is that through my work, I can bring peace, joy, and beauty into other people’s lives. - Kate Lindsey
